1. W.H. & Idumea Gray Marshall Home Marker
Inscription. This house was built in 1908 by Will H. Marshall and new wife Idumea Gray Marshall. Miss Gray was a daughter of Millville pioneer John C. Gray. When the new "Bay County" was created on July 1, 1913 young W.H. Marshall was elected the first Bay County Clerk of Court. He and his young family moved in 1913 to the new "County Seat" of Panama City. The Marshall Family rented out their Millville home to others until 1920. At that time it was purchased by Captain Arthur Knickmeyer and his wife Hassie Sheffield Knickmeyer. He was one of the most respected steamboat captains along the Gulf Coast. They sold the house in 1940 to Randall H. Gray and wife Nathalie who owned "Gray's Grocery and Market" also on E. 3rd St. This house once sat in the midst of a bustling Millville business district still fondly remembered by many.
