Regarding Sturgess House. Excerpt from the National Register nomination for the East Gambier Street District, which includes this property:
Sturgess House. 205 E. Gambier St.; the large, painted brick house built in the Greek revival style was severely altered in the 1920's. In 1968 the present portico was built. The portico was copied from the house at 207 E. Gambier. Capitals of the new portico are small Roman type and the columns are unfluted but the final effect did much to improve the neighborhood. The original interior has been greatly altered with no trace of the original now remaining.
