Willy Mommer, Sr. (1882-1943) and Willy Mommer, Jr. (1921-1972), composers and choir directors, lived and worked in this house. Their musical work made Eupen famous in many countries. The City is grateful for this.

Overview (in translation): Willy Mommer, Junior (* 12 December 1921 in Eupen/Belgium; † 25 August 1972 in the same place) was a Belgian pianist and organist, choir and orchestra conductor, composer and music teacher as well as concert organizer. As a member of the Belgian Resistance in the Second World War, he made a name for himself as a resistance fighter against the National Socialist regime.

the war. From his deployment locations in Münster, Cologne-Wahn (via couriers from the French resistance network ZERO) and Belzig (by radio using a special technology), he transmitted war-critical information to the Belgian resistance and the British Secret Intelligence Service. In April 1945, he was arrested in Berlin on suspicion of espionage, but managed to avoid conviction. The Belgian historian Emmanuel Debruyne later described Mommer as probably the most productive East Belgian Wehrmacht soldier in the service of the Tégal resistance network.
