1. Anti-Saloon League Offices Marker

Inscription. From 1893 to 1933, the Anti-Saloon League was a major force in American politics. Influencing the United States through lobbying and the printed word, it turned a moral crusade against the manufacture, sale and consumption of alcohol into the Prohibition Amendment to the United States Constitution.

In 1909, the Anti-Saloon League leaders moved to Westerville and built a printing center. Built by George Stoner in the 1850's, this brick home along with an adjacent plot was gifted to the League by the Westerville Board of Trade for use as their printing headquarters and offices. Here, they printed anti-alcohol propaganda for nationwide and worldwide distribution.

In 1973, the building was gifted to the Westerville Public Library which owns and manages the League's historic collections.

Previous owners of this historic brick home included the Meyer family whose daughter Agnes Meyer Driscoll was a pioneering cryptologist.
