1. First National Bank / W.C. Bale Hardware Marker
Inscription. Constructed in 1905, this significant uptown corner building opened as two storefronts housing First National Bank and W.C. Bale Hardware.

After a merger in 1929, the bank moved to the block across the street at which time the entire floor became a single storefront. Bale formed a partnership with C.H. Walker in 1907 and the business was renamed Bale and Walker Hardware as pictured here.

Hardware businesses continued to occupy this space through the 1970s.
