1. Vietnam War Marker
Inscription. 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Separate) deployed to Vietnam on 6 July 1965. 1st Brigade's major subordinate units were the 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry; 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry: 2nd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery; and A Troop, 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry. 1st Brigade earned the Presidential Unit Citation for their actions at Dak To (Vietnam 1966), the Meritorious Unit Commendation (Vietnam 1965-1966), the Valorous Unit Award (Tuy Hoa), the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm (Vietnam 1966-1967, 1968-1969, and 1971), and the Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Honor First Class (Vietnam 1968-1970).

1st Brigade Deploys To Vietnam
On 6 July 1965, Soldiers from 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Separate) deployed to Vietnam. They travelled by air to San Francisco where they boarded the USNS General Leroy Eltinge (a World War II vessel) to travel across the Pacific. They arrived at Cam Ranh, Vietnam, on 29 July 1965.

Battalion killed 86 enemy soldiers of the 24th North Vietnamese Army Regiment. For its actions at Dak To, the 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry earned the Presidential Unit Citation on 7 June 1966.
