1. 327th Infantry - WWI Marker
Inscription. The 327th Infantry Regiment, 164th Infantry Brigade, 82nd Infantry Division was organized on 17 September 1917 at Fort Gordon, Georgia. The division arrived in France in spring 1918. The 327th saw combat at St. Mihiel, which was the first operation in World War I commanded by American Forces. The regiment was part of the final allied offensive from September to November 1918 in the Meuse-Argonne region. They led a flank attack on the Foret de Argonne and the attack north of Sommerance. The 327th was the first unit to reach and pierce the Kriemhilde Stellung.
