Inscription. Zachary Herman Arend grew up in Oakwood, Ohio, where from the time he was little, he loved playing baseball and being outdoors. He was competitive in sports, including baseball, football and basketball, but with a passion for baseball. In 2006, he graduated from Paulding High School and was chosen First Team All Conference and MVP of the baseball team. Zachary was excited to attend Bluffton and be a member of the Beavers' baseball team. A pitcher, he was proud to be chosen his freshman year to accompany the team to Florida for its spring trip. Baseball was his special passion, and he hoped to one day manage a major or minor league baseball team. Zachary is remembered for his quiet, yet fun loving personality and approach to life.
