Ricky Matter
July 19, 1988- February 14, 2004
As a freshman Ricky started as quarterback for the 2003 high school varsity football team. Ricky's smiling face and star athletic abilities touched everyone in the Bluffton school district.
Ricky gave us new meaning to "Friday Night Lights and 3rd and Long." His athletic abilities provided excitement as we watched him set numerous passing records as a freshman. He exhibited leadership qualities that motivated and focused his teammates with the desire to play hard while having fun.
Ricky's greatest attributes were his easy going personality and his infectious smile. Ricky was a role model not only for his outstanding athletic accomplishments, but because he provided us with valuable lessons in life:
Work hard, Play hard, Lead by example, be Humble in your accomplishments and Smile, it makes everyone around you feel good.
The Ricky Matter Strength and Conditioning Center was dedicated in memory of Ricky on August 21, 2005
