Valkenburg has had an active group of members and sympathizers since the early years of the National Socialist Movement. At its peak, about 200 Valkenburgers were members of Anton Mussert's party. The NSB also held several large demonstrations in Valkenburg with attendances of several thousand supporters from all over the country. Due to its tourist infrastructure, Valkenburg was ideally suited for accommodating large groups of visitors.

Overview: The National Socialist Movement in the Netherlands (Dutch: Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging in Nederland, NSB) was a Dutch fascist and later Nazi political organisation that eventually became a political party. As a parliamentary party participating in legislative elections, the NSB had some success during the 1930s.
