1. Bethel Lutheran Church and Cemetery Marker
Inscription. Four acres of the 60-acre farm owned by John Andreas Reif Jr. was deeded to George Adam Hochthanner, Johann Stroehlein and Frederick Burden on July 12, 1856 for the establishment of a church, parson's house and burial ground. A log church and a log parsonage was erected.

The name Mittelfranken was given to the area because the site was situated between Frankenmuth and Frankentrost. In the year 1879 members of Bethel and St. Paul's congregation along with a few men from St. Lorenz Lutheran Church founded St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and purchased property in Frankenmuth. (St. Paul's was located 4 miles south of Frankenmuth on Canada Road).

Bethel cemetery was started in 1856 until circa 1916 when St. John's started a cemetery on Mill Street now known as Gunzenhausen Street. It is unknown how many graves are in Bethel Cemetery. Funeral records do not list burial sites. What records there are are at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1200 E. Genesee Street, Frankenmuth.

1 Corinthians 15:56-57
The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
But thank's be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
