Regarding Jefferson Park War Memorial. One of Chicago's most prominently placed war memorials, at the busy intersection of Higgins and Milwaukee avenues on Chicago's northwest side, this memorial was originally erected in 1945 in memory of Jefferson Park soldiers who died in World War II—less than a month after the Japanese surrendered and the war ended. Plaques for other conflicts both earlier and later were added in the intervening years.

A closer view of the eagle on top of the memorial and the etchings on its side. It's not immediately known whether those blank slabs beneath "Honor Roll" originally had the names of local men who died or fought in battle.
