1. Historic German Village Marker

Inscription. This plot, originally part of C.F. Jaeger's farm, was sold to Casper Gatterdam in 1871 for the sum of three hundred dollars. Gatterdam, employed as a laborer, built this two and a half story vernacular Italianate where he lived with his spouse Catherine and their two children. In 1887, Martha Gatterdam, a widow, bought the home from Casper Gatterdam. After 1894, the home became a rental property, providing a home for a barber, a driver, a midwife, a salesman, and a seamstress. From 1912 to 1937, John Adam Gatterdam, a tailor, lived in the home with his spouse Frances, and their two children.
