(Left): Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). In the immediate aftermath of the attacks of 11 September 2001, the Division deployed Task Force Rakkasan (3d Brigade) to Afghanistan. Logistic Task Force (LTF) 626 from the DISCOM was organized and deployed to provide sustainment support for the Rakkasans. During this time, November 2001-April 2002, the Taliban and Al Qaeda forces in Afghanistan were severely degraded.
(Bottom, top left): Logistics bases were built from scratch to sustain the Division.
(Bottom, top right): Lifeliners converted available infrastructure to augment the mission whenever possible.
(Bottom, bottom left): Keeping the fleet operational was a continuous effort.
(Bottom, bottom right): "Heavy Metal" provided convoy security in Iraq.
(Right): Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). The Division deployed to Kuwait in February 2003. The DISCOM deployed to provide sustainment support. The Division attacked from Kuwait across the length of Iraq to Baghdad and on to Mosul in March-April 2003. Post-war operations were conducted from April 2003-November 2004
