More about this marker. The plaque is one of 78 placed throughout the city by Chicago’s Charter Jubilee, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Chicago’s city charter. A seal of the City of Chicago is at the bottom of the marker. Only about 20 of these plaques remain on display in Chicago.

A sign for the site's current home, the circa-1894 Hiram H. Belding House, is directly behind it. The Morgan Park neighborhood of Chicago, referenced on this plaque, is about 2 miles south of this location in the Beverly neighborhood.

The Beverly Review: "Much of the land under development was part of the original estate purchased by Thomas Morgan in 1844. He established his home, Upwood, around today’s 91st Street and Longwood Drive. Upon his death in 1851, his estate passed to his widow, Anna Maria, and their nine children.

3. Historical Markers That Don't Quite Hit the Mark. From WTTW (Channel 11), the "Ask Geoffrey" series looks at the Chicago Jubilee markers, which were erected around the city in 1937.
Excerpt: "The 78 plaques planned for installation by the Chicago Charter Jubilee committee were just one part of a monthslong centenary celebration of Chicago’s 1837 city charter. (They took some pains to point out that the 1933 Century of Progress World’s Fair celebrated the centenary of Chicago’s 1833 town charter, in case people were wondering why they were celebrating Chicago’s hundredth birthday again just four years later.) ... Despite their wobbly accuracy, they do give us an idea of what Chicago was like in both the days they’re remembering and the attitudes of the day in 1937 they were erected."
