Regarding Berry-Shade House. Excerpt from the National Register nomination for the West Mound Street Historic District, which includes this property:
At approximately the same time as the Scioto Valley Traction Co. interurban first ran through Canal Winchester in 1904, the Berry-Shade House was built on the site of the old John Kramer farmhouse. Of the American Four-Square type, this substantial house is constructed of blond brick with a hip roof and dormers. Significant details include the 1/1 t double hung windows with round keystone arches which are paired in the second story facade and the ornamental modillions at the eaves. There is also a frame and precast concrete l-story porch across the facade dating to c. 1920's. A barn, pre-dating the house, is at the rear of the lot.
