6Ό acres of land associated with this house in 1865 from John Karnes for $1,000. Helpman sold this property to Eliza A. Chaney in 1879 for $1,500. It is believed that either Helpman or Eliza Chaney had this house built c. 1875. It is not known if either of them lived in the house. The Helpman homestead on East Columbus Street was not sold out of the Helpman fanily until John's death in 1883, when it sold to Erwin Moore. This house remained in Eliza Chaney's name until 1891 when she sold it to Zadok Vesey of Groveport for $3,000.
