from the National Register nomination:
James Griffith acquired the acreage affiliated with this house in 1869 and operated a brick yard from this location. An 1872 map shows a residence and kiln on the acreage. It is likely that he was the builder of the house and that the bricks were manufactured at this location. Griffith was listed as owner of a brickyard in the decades between 1860 and 1890. Subsequent 19th century owners were Jeremiah Alspach, Peter Long, George Long, and Mary E. Long. It is locally known as the “Minnie Bishop House” for having been the longtime residence (rental) of this schoolteacher and her sister in the 20th century.
