Inscription. Philadelphia native was National League Rookie of the Year in 1946 when he hit .313. Led league with 126 RBI in 1950 when he was main offensive power of the Whiz Kids. Drove in more than 100 runs six times with Phillies, totaling 1,124 overall. Twice collected seven RBI in one game. Hit 256 or more home runs seven times with a career-high 31 in 1950. Hit 259 home runs with Phillies to rank second on all-time list. Ranks third in RBI and total bases in 1,630 games. Named to three NL All-Star teams, two of which he started.
