The busiest general aviation airport in the world today. Known as a favorite airport for many famous people, including Amelia Earhart who broke the world speed record for women in 1929 when she traveled 184 mph in a Lockheed-Vega monoplane. In 1942 scenes from Casablanca were filmed here.

No longer in use, now on display near a private aircraft hangar. The beam of light was seen sweeping the night sky over the San Fernando Valley for decades.
