Excerpt (in translation): … On the right side wall of the goldsmith's house facing St. Mary's Church, we can see a memorial plaque for the Hanau chronicler and music teacher Johann Daniel Wilhelm Ziegler (1809-1878). He lived diagonally opposite in the house at Altstädter Markt No. 4 and is the author of the “Ziegler Chronicle” named after him - a diary kept from 1825 to 1877 with around 4,000 handwritten pages, a real treasure trove for every historian and layperson interested
