1. “The Municipal Building” Marker
Inscription. Built in 1909, under the leadership of Mayor Josiah Kirby, this building originally housed the Wyoming Fire Department. After an expansion in 1919, the Wyoming Police Department and City Council moved in; it then became known as the Municipal Building. Council and the police relocated in 1956. The fire department remained to be joined by the Wyoming Board of Education. By 1985, all occupants had vacated the building. The Municipal Building was then sold to a private owner and was converted into restaurant and banquet space.

Although remodeled throughout the years, the building's legacy as one of Wyoming's first public buildings is clearly visible. During its service as a fire station, the bells alerted volunteer firefighters to emergency calls, and the bell tower was used to hang fire hoses out to dry. The old firetruck bays, long since bricked in, are still visible and can be seen if you look closely enough on the west wall.
