Newhall in Santa Clarita in Los Angeles County, California — The American West (Pacific Coastal)
Kingsburry House
This house was built in 1878 at the southwest corner of today's Market and Main streets for J.O. Newhall, operator of the Southern Hotel, making it the oldest existing Newhall house. Lyman Stewart, future organizer of Union Oil Company, bought it in 1883. August Ferrier, a local prospector, moved it one block west to Walnut Street in 1911. It changed hands at least twice more before Charles and Ruth Kingsburry purchased it in 1945 and built a small addition for Masonic activities. In 1987, it was acquired by Realtor Jim Droz and dentist Alan Fine, who redeveloped the Walnut Street property and donated the house to the Historical Society.
Erected 2024 by City of Santa Clarita, and SCVHS.
