Milton Township in Glen Ellyn in DuPage County, Illinois — The American Midwest (Great Lakes)
Stacy's Corners
The inn across the street from this site was built by Moses Stacy in 1846. As a result, this site became known as Stacy's Corners. During the 1850's it boasted a post office, school, church, blacksmith shop, grocery, and match factory.
The completion of a railroad two miles south led these businesses to gradually relocate to what is now downtown Glen Ellyn. By the 1880', Stacy's Corners had lost most of its commercial appeal and again became pasture and farmland.
Erected by Village of Glen Ellyn.
