Dedicated on September 29, 1991 by the immigrant community from the former Soviet Union to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Babi Yar Massacre. Names of those who perished during World War II are encapsulated into this monument.

Babi Yar is a ravine in the Ukrainian capital Kiev and a site of massacres carried out by Nazi Germany's forces during its campaign against the Soviet Union in World War II.
