Confluence Museum Dar El Basha
Confluence Museum Dar El Basha
The building was constructed in 1910s by the governor (Basha) of Marrakesh, Thami El-Glaoui (1878-1956), who wanted it to be as beautiful as the edifices built in the late nineteenth century, such as Dar Si Said. Bahia Palace and Dar El Mnebhi. It consists of a Riyad with a garden surrounded by rooms, a Harem space, and annexes including a library, a traditional Hammam and a small mosque. All in a wonderful design, combining the skill of Moroccan artisans, and the methods of Western architecture.
The National Foundation of Museums undertook its restoration, since it was attached to it in July 2015, and turned it into the "Museum of Confluences Dar el Bacha" to highlight the different aspects that have forged the Moroccan identity and its specificities through a cultural program as rich as it is diversified.
