1. Mansion House Marker
Danby's first hotel, built by David Kelley, occupied this corner until it was destroyed by fire. Besides accommodating travelers and Danby's first post office, it was noted for its ballroom, where political meetings and high-toned affairs took place, and its veranda, of which proximity to the town pump and train depot made it prime seating for locals to witness the sagas of village life.
