Horn Springs Resort. . Founded in the 1870s by James B. Horn, the Horn Springs Resort was a vacation destination for travelers until the 1950s. They came to "the most desirable summer resort in Tennessee" to drink mineral water that flowed from underground springs. This springhouse is a replica of the original. However, mineral water was not the only attraction. Jim Horn, son of the founder, expanded the hotel to include a post office, dining room, ballroom, bowling alley and 3,000 feet of porches. Joe Horn took over in the 1930s and added a swimming pool. After generations of ownership, the Horn family sold the property to Dr. R.D. Wilkinson who closed the hotel, but the swimming pool remained a popular retreat until the 1970s., The hotel's most famous guests were President Harry S. Truman and Pulitzer Prize winner H.L. Davis., Donated by Charles and Elaine Bell, current owners of the Horn Springs property.
