Inscription. To prepare young men for College & for life, believing the first object of education to develop character, the second to develop intellect, third to make Christian gentlemen, Wallace University School, directed by Professor Clarence B. Wallace, flourished on this site, 1914-1941. Graduates entered universities without taking the usual examinations.

Erected 1971 by the Historical Commission of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County. (Marker Number 43.)
