Eastview & the Stanton Littlejohn Sessions
1947-1957
| | Historic Site | |
Predictably, southern gospel quartets, bluegrass bands, old-time string musicians and Country artists sought out Littlejohn to take advantage of his services, regional favorites such as Waldo Davis, Elvis Black, Con Crotts, ErnestPap Whitten, Arnold English, the Latta Ramblers, and many others, made impressive recordings at Littlejohns Home Studio.
In 1951 American Music Icon, Carl Perkins found his way to Eastview where he made the first known recordings of his storied career, better known as a rock artist, Perkins first recorded country and old-time music with a group of local musicians but in a second session, Perkins would perform his signature sound, well before the rockabilly anthem, Blue Suede Shoes launched his career.
Perkins historic Eastview Recordings are thought to be the earliest sonic documentation of rockabilly music predating Elvis Presleys commercial success by two or three years.
