1. The Sizer Home Marker

Inscription. The Sizer home on 800 Central was built for the family of Fielding Sizer, an attorney, in 1916. The current occupants are only the second set of people to live in the house. The house still retains most of its original features including its hardwood floors, the staircase leading to the main three floors, and even some of the concrete planters are original to the time. Fittingly enough, the house also has a name worthy of its grandeur: Callamura.

This sign was created by students under the direction of Monett High School Missouri Literature and Composition teacher Amy M. Sampson and was paid for via a grant she wrote and was awarded from Rural Schools Collaborative and their 2023 Celia B. Godsil Grants in Place Fellows Program.

Regarding The Sizer Home. Callamura was the Southern mansion in Julia Pleasants Creswell's 1868 novel of the same name. Sizer, who became wealthy from suing railroads, lived in his manse until his death in 1944.
