Excerpt (in translation): Max Oster was born on 1 December 1884 in Berlin. His parents were named Cemach David Oster (b. 1858 in Lithuania, d. 1934 in Oslo) and Bertha Jenny née Tarchis (b. 1863 in Lithuania, d. 1931 in Oslo). The family came to Norway in 1885.

Max worked as a nameplate maker, but had previously worked in the tobacco industry for 20 years. He was arrested on 26 October 1942 and sent to Berg prison camp outside Tønsberg. A month later, on 26 November 1942, Max Oster was deported on the transport ship M/S Danube to Stettin, and from there to the extermination camp Auschwitz. Upon arrival on 1 December 1942, Max Oster
