Can you find Plant Riverside’s four original Towers?

At the peak of operation, Plant Riverside covered four city blocks along the Savannah River with many exhaust stacks, generator buildings, substations, outbuildings for fuel storage, machine shops, employee locker rooms, and offices, with a network of piping connecting it all, While the two original masonry stacks were taken out of service and partially removed, today the rehabilitated central plant building is the heart of the Plant Riverside District and its steel exhaust stacks are an iconic part of Savannah's waterfront.

1. 1912: The plant's first concrete and masonry tower stack was originally 254 ft. tall.

2. 1926: Built during the expansion of the Boiler Room, this tower was inside the building and matched the original tower's height at 254 ft. tall.

3. 1949: Built during the first modern style expansion of the plant, this steel tower is 176 ft. tall.

4. 1955: Added during the final expansion of the original plant building this tower was designed to match the earlier addition at 176 ft. tall.
