Excerpt (in translation): Blomqvist Kunsthandel was established in 1870. In 1914, Blomqvist moved to its current address, where they opened on 11 November 1914. Many lamented that the popular exhibition venue disappeared from Karl Johan Street, they thought Tordenskioldsgate was a bit out of the way. However, the new Artists' Association already had its premises nearby.

and then owner of the firm, had bought the plot, on which there was an older mineral water factory built in the 1880s.

Architect Kristen Rivertz was commissioned to build a modern exhibition building and integrate parts of the factory into the new building complex.

Jappe Nilsen in Dagbladet was excited about the new art salon "of a completely European style, without a doubt the most beautiful and tasteful in the Nordics".
