1. Jansen Hardware Marker
Victor W. Jansen came to North Bend in 1897 and joined C.L. Kelly Hardware as a sheet metal worker, a trade he learned as a teenager in Denmark. Jansen Hardware was established in 1907, adding plumbing and hardware to his sheet metal work. In 1916 he built this building and moved into the space the North Bend Eagle occupies today. Vic's son Cecil worked in the store after school and he and his wife Dorothy took over when Vic died in 1942. Cecil died in 1969, but Dorothy kept running the family store until selling it in 1973 to Rick and Jan Hobza, who changed the name to Hobza Hardware. The Eagle moved in after the 2009 downtown fire.
