1. Railroad Storage Building Marker

Inscription.
This was originally the site of the Runkles Mill, pictured above. Marion V. Runkles purchased this building, which was located behind the mill, in 1919 to use as storage for the mill. It was later used as a railyard storage building. After the B&O stopped service to Mount Airy, the building was used by the Southern States Store for storage. Since then, it has been home to several businesses a including:

• A tailor/dress making shop
• VanSant Plumbing
• Kittin Chicks
• Patapsco Bike Company
