Scouting prepares youth to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Since 1910, more than 100 million members nationally have been involved in the Scouting program focused on skill building, positive traditions and strong values. Today, more than twenty-percent of Kansas City area youth. are members of the BSA's Heart of America Council, making it one of the largest youth-serving agencies in Greater Kansas City, both in Kansas and Missouri. Kansas City area Scouts spend extensive hours of volunteer time annually on community service projects related to conservation, environmental stewardship, safety and emergency preparedness.
Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout is Scouting's highest honor, and it recognizes requirements in the areas of leadership. service, and outdoor skills. Only four percent of Scouts in the BSA attain the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. The Boy Scouts of America develops future leaders and makes our community a better place to live.
