The Fort Screven Bakery was built in 1914 for a sum of $6,911.00, which. would amount to $193,000 in 2022.

In 1940 the new bakery equipment was installed at a cost of $5,400 which would amount to $108,000 in 2022. It is one of the few brick buildings built in Fort Screven and it had a slate roof. These building materials would have helped make it fireproof .Today this home is a private residence.

Fort Screven Gymnasium - 1928

The Fort Screven Gymnasium is believed to have been built around 1928. The records that the Tybee Island Historical Society have in their archives are incomplete:

What is known is that in 1938 a pool room was added for $113 which would amount to $2,200 in 2022.

The building now houses the American Legion Post 154, and the addition added in 1938 is where the Legion bar is located today.

The photo of the diners on the right show where they cut out a portion of the support truss in front of the basketball hoop to make room for the ball as it sailed through the air.
