Excerpt (in translation): Rudolf Nilsen's (1901-29) poem about Nr. 13, with which he is so strongly associated, was published in the poetry collection På gjensyn (“Goodbye”) which was published in 1926. The poem has a total of 26 verses.

Heimdalsgata 26 is one of the largest and finest workers' barracks from the end of the 19th century. The building is 66 meters long and had a high standard: for each one-room apartment there was an individual entrance, and each was equipped with a "fall toilet" or "claskedass", not outdoor toilets. had three rooms set aside as a reading room for its residents. With about four people per apartment in 1899, Heimdalsgata 26 does not seem particularly overpopulated, although there were large households here too, such as a road worker with his wife and eight children, all born in 1888-99.
