Excerpt (in translation): Herman David Dickman was born on 28 February 1910 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The parents, Betty (b. Mehlin 1891 in Stockholm) and Meyer Fischel Dickman (born 1881 in Russia), came to Norway in 1912. Herman had three siblings; Israel “Rolle” Emmanuel (b. 1912), Sigurd (b. 1915) and Elsa (b. 1918). The mother Betty died in 1939.

Herman had attended secondary school and business school, was trained as a dispatcher and clerk and worked in 1942 as a bookkeeper. On 26 October 1942 he was arrested and placed in Berg prison camp outside T๘nsberg. A month later he was deported by the ship Danube to Stettin, and from there to the extermination camp Auschwitz. He perished here on 16 January 1943.

Herman's father Meyer and his brother Sigurd were also deported and killed in Auschwitz.
