I mange hundre ar la den fattige forstaden Piperviken nedenfor skrenten her. Pๅ dette stedet gikk en bratt sti opp til Piperviksporten, den eneste adkomsten vestfra til byen innenfor vollene.

Nๅr Christian IV bes๘kte Akershus, hadde han med seg egne musikanter fra K๘benhavn. De unge musikantene, med sine flotte og fargerike uniformer, gjorde seg bemerket blant Pipervikens fattige befolkning.

(English translation:)
For many hundreds of years, the poor suburb of Piperviken occupied the slope here. At this point a steep path went up to the Pipervik Gate, the only access from the west to the city within the ramparts.

When Christian IV visited Akershus, he brought his own musicians from Copenhagen. The young musicians, with their beautiful and colorful uniforms, made a name for themselves among Piperviken's poor population.
