Arlington in Jacksonville in Duval County, Florida — The American South (South Atlantic)
Norman Film Studios
Norman Film Studios has been designated a National Historic Landmark. This site possesses national significance for its association with the production of moving picture films beginning in 1916 with the Eagle Film City. In 1921, Richard Norman purchased and produced "race films" that positively portrayed African Americans in non-caricatured roles and challenged the racism of the era, similar to those of his contemporaries Oscar Micheaux and William Foster, Norman's contribution to film history is embodied in this complex of buildings, a rare example of a silent film studio that includes all elements of film production on a single site.
Erected 2016 by National Park Service - United States Department of the Interior.
