Inscription.
The Piedmont & Northern Railway Greer Depot was designed by architect Charles Christian Hook of Charlotte, NC, for use as a combined freight and passenger depot. When constructed in 1913 by James Buchanan Duke, it was one of five 2-story depots on South Carolina's only electric freight and interurban railroad. Today, it is the last surviving example of the railroad's 2-story depots featuring Mediterranean Revival architecture with Spanish influences.
