1. Hubbard House Marker
Inscription. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, this house, dating from 1857 was the boyhood home of Elbert Hubbard, 1856-1915 (died during sinking of Lusitania). A late 19th and early 20th century essayist, the author of “Message to Garcia,” he founded the Roycroft Shops in East Aurora, NY, which is still in operation. It opened as a colony noted for a wide variety of artistic products – copper items, furniture, and finely printed books.

2. Hubbard House Dedication Plaque
It honors Elbert Hubbard's parents, Dr. Silas Hubbard and Juliana Frances Read, who lived in the house for 43 years. Elbert and his four sisters grew up in the house.

He and his second wife, Alice Moore Hubbard, died when a German submarine sank the RMS Lusitania off the Irish coast on May 7, 1915.
