Scout's Rest Ranch Headquarters served as the primary home, center of entertainment business operations, cattle and horse ranch, and publicity tool for frontiersman-turned-showman William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody from 1886 to 1913. Cody's "Wild West" traveling shows toured north america and europe and inspired hundreds of imitators, spawned the modern rodeo, and influenced the motion picture industry. His "Wild West" performance movement shaped and continues to impact-how the entertainment industry, mass media, and popular culture present the history of the American west.
