Regarding Historic Post Office Building.
Statement of Significance:
The (Former) U.S. Post Office is a notable example of an early 20th century Colonial Revival style governmental building. The building was constructed in 1931 to serve as Elizabethtown's main post office. The building was constructed as part of the public works program of the early 1930s and is a good example of the standard Colonial Revival designs utilized by the postal service in the 1930s. The building was used as the main post office for Elizabethtown until 1967 when it was converted into the public library. The building has not been extensively altered and retains its original architectural design.
