Zuid-Limburgse Vakwerkhoeve
⎯⎯⎯
South Limburg Half-timbered Farmhouse
| | Rijksmonument | |
Inscription.
(English translation:)
This house is a characteristic South Limburg half-timbered farm in a hook shape with a canopy.
The authentic living area (13 C) has a front facade and vaulted cellar, both built from marl.
The half-timbering, the facade and the cellar date from the year of construction 1721. The year can be found twice: on the original wooden lintel in the half-timbering and as an inscription in the point of the facade. There is also an original dovecote there.
For a long time it was thought that every stone facade for a half-timbered construction was a later addition, often for aesthetic reasons.
This house provides definitive proof that both were built at the same time. The complex was renovated at the beginning of the 21st century and divided into four houses.
This means that this cultural heritage has been preserved and contributes to the typical South Limburg identity of this region.
