Inscription. A consistent and durable performer behind the plate who became first Ranger to play in more than 1,500 games. Made the jump from Double A to American League All-Star in 1974. Caught 140 or more games for six straight seasons from 1975-1980. Won six consecutive Gold Glove awards from 1976-1981, second most among AL catchers to Ivan Rodriguez. Ranks among the clubs all-time leaders with 1,512 games, 4,684 at bats, 482 runs, 1,180 hits, and 542 walks. Has given his time to countless charitable endeavors recognized by the Rangers' annual Community Achievement award in his name. Also saw action with the Brewers, Royals, and Cubs in 16 big league seasons. Inducted August 2, 2003.
