Inscription. A Texas legend who made a lasting impact on the Rangers in his five years with the club. At the age of 42 in 1989, led majors with team record 301 strikeouts and took five no-hitters into the eighth inning or later while becoming first pitcher in history to record 5,000 strikeouts. The following season, led AL in strikeouts, pitched sixth no-hitter, and became 20th individual to post 300 career wins. Won 51 games and fanned 939 in 840 innings in his 129 starts with Texas. Holds all-time Major League marks with 5,714 strikeouts and seven no-hitters. Earned 324 victories in an unprecedented 27 Major League seasons with the Mets, Angels, Astros, and Rangers. Was first Ranger to have his number retired and a 1999 inductee to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Inducted August 2, 2003.
