Inscription. His steady leadership guided the Rangers to three American League West Division titles. Was named AL Manager of the Year by the BBWAA and the Sporting News in 1996, when the Rangers advanced to post-season for the first time in 36-year history of the franchise. Texas repeated as Division Champs in 1998 and 1999, winning a club record 95 games in the latter season. His teams produced three AL Most Valuable Players, Juan Gonzalez in 1996 and 1998 and Ivan Rodriguez in 1999. Ranks second among Rangers managers with 983 games, 506 victories, and a .515 winning percentage from 1995-2001. Won 797 games in 11 seasons as a Major League manager with the Orioles and Rangers. Inducted August 2, 2003.
